Kathmandu, 31 October (Hindustan Reporter). UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has described Hamas’ attack on Israel as the cruelest act. Addressing both the houses of the Parliament of Nepal, Secretary General Guterres said that this incident cannot be condemned enough. While paying tribute to the Nepalese civilians killed in the Hamas attack, he also wished for the early release of the Nepalese civilians still held hostage by Hamas.

Addressing the Parliament, the General Secretary said that if there is conflict between any two countries anywhere in the world, then its impact is not limited to that country only, but the whole world gets affected by it. It impacts the entire world in some way or the other. He said that everyone is facing the global impact of the Russia-Ukraine war. Guterres has also appealed to stop the Israel-Hamas conflict as soon as possible.

Praising Nepal’s peace process after ten years of conflict, the Secretary General of the United Nations said that the whole world needs to learn a lesson from Nepal’s peace process. He said that many countries should learn from the way the people of Nepal have completed the peace process without any bloodshed after ten years of civil war.

Stating that the ongoing peace process in Nepal is in the final stages, Guterres said that the United Nations is completely with Nepal. He said that the United Nations is ready to provide all possible help to take Nepal’s ongoing peace process to its logical conclusion. Guterres said that Nepal’s political leadership needs to be alert to ensure that Nepali citizens suffering from the conflict get justice and that those guilty of serious criminal cases do not get immunity in the name of amnesty.
