Link between sugary drinks and liver diseases?
Dr Soni further explained that excessive consumption of sugary drinks, laden with fructose and high-fructose corn syrup, can lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). “Liver processes these sugars and converts them into fat, which, when accumulated, can cause liver inflammation and scarring. If left unchecked, it can progress to more severe conditions like Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) or even Liver Cirrhosis,” he said.
The severity of these liver diseases can be life-threatening. NASH, for instance, can lead to Liver Failure, increasing the risk of liver cancer and the need for a transplant. The doctor then stressed the importance of immediate intervention to prevent further damage.

He advised that the patient to embark on a liver detoxification journey. “Cutting out sugary drinks is the first crucial step.
