Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Responding to media queries on Gandhi’s comments about Gautam Adani being charged by US prosecutors for alleged bribery and fraud, Maurya called the statements “irresponsible.”
“Rahul Gandhi is now the Leader of Opposition (in Lok Sabha) and he keeps making irresponsible remarks on PM Modi. Congress should apologise for it,” Maurya stated. He reiterated that the judicial process would handle any allegations of wrongdoing.
“If someone has done something wrong, then the law will take its action,” he added, emphasizing faith in the legal system over speculative accusations.
Rahul Gandhi had earlier questioned the Modi government’s alleged inaction against Gautam Adani despite charges brought forward internationally. The Congress MP accused the BJP of shielding Adani and demanded an independent investigation.
The exchange reflects the intensifying political discourse between the BJP and Congress, particularly over matters of corporate governance and alleged favoritism. Maurya’s comments underscore the BJP’s rejection of Gandhi’s claims while pushing back against opposition narratives.
