Washington: A 24-year-old Indian student is in critical condition after being stabbed in Indiana, USA. The incident occurred at a public gym in Valparaiso and the attacker, 24-year-old Jordan Andrad has been arrested and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. The motive for the attack is still under investigation.

Stabbed inside temple
The victim, identified as Varun, was stabbed in the temple with a knife by Andrad. Due to the severity of his injury, Varun was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was given a zero to five per cent chance of survival. His condition is currently described as serious.

Attacker searched him in massage room
According to NWIU Times report, Andrad told the police that he had requested a massage that morning and entered the massage room to find Varun, whom he did not know but found “a little weird.” Andrad claimed that he perceived Varun as a threat and reacted accordingly. The police have stated that Andrad described Varun as a threat and said he “just reacted.”

The authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the attack. Meanwhile, Varun’s family and friends in India are hoping for his recovery and justice for the brutal assault. The Indian Embassy in Washington has been informed about the incident and is providing necessary assistance to Varun and his family, news agency PTI reported.
