Uttar Pradesh becomes a new hub of industrial development, one of the top-5 states, also ahead in employment
The latest figures of the Annual Industrial Survey (ASI) 2023-24 confirm that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s industrial policies are rapidly establishing Uttar Pradesh as a major state on the industrial map of India. According to the report, state employment creation, number of factory units, production and gross value have joined the top 5 industrial states in the country on many important parameters like Vardhan (GVA).
Big jump in generating employment
According to the ASI report, in the year 2023-24, there was an increase of 5.92% in employment in the industrial sector in Uttar Pradesh. During the last decade (2014-15 to 2023-24), more than 57 lakh jobs were created in the state. Uttar Pradesh is now in the top 5 with states like Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Uttar Pradesh’s stake in industrial employment across the country has reached 8%, which shows the strong presence of the state in the region.
Fast growing factory units
There has also been a significant increase in the number of factories in the state. The share of Uttar Pradesh is now 8.51% of the total national factories, which has reached fourth place in the country. After Tamil Nadu (15.43%), Gujarat (12.81%) and Maharashtra (10.20%), this condition of Uttar Pradesh explains the improvement in the industrial base structure of the state. The government has attracted entrepreneurs to create new clusters and corridors with traditional industrial areas to create an investment -friendly environment.
Record increase in production and GVA
According to the report, industrial production increased by 5.80% in 2023-24. The gross value was seen by 11.89% in the GDP, which led to 7% participation in Uttar Pradesh. The role of the state has been very effective in areas such as basic metals, motor vehicles, chemicals, food products and pharmaceuticals.
Solid impact of industrial policies of Yogi government
It is clear from the report that the policies of the Yogi government are not only limited to papers, but their impact is now visible at the ground level. Large investments made in areas such as the Defense Corridor, Electronics Manufacturing, Textile, and Food Processing have led UP to the new industrial age. Experts believe that the geographical benefits of Uttar Pradesh, investor-friendly policies and strong logistics networks can make it the largest industrial center in the country in the future.
