Venkatesh Iyer will say goodbye to KKR? Batsman himself responded to SRH trade speculation
Venkatesh iyer to srh: Before the IPL 2026 auction, there has been a stir in the cricket world with the trade window. The news of Sanju Samson being out of Rajasthan Royals is in the news, while now speculation about Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all -rounder Venkatesh Iyer is intensified. It is reported that Venkatesh Iyer, who was purchased for Rs 23.75 crore, may leave the team, after which he himself has broken his silence on the matter.
Let me tell you that when Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2025, it was reported that the KKR team could hand over the command of Venkatesh Iyer. But a few days before the start of IPL 2025, KKR Management declared Ajinkya Rahane as captain.
Performance and price load on venkatesh iyer
Venkatesh Iyer’s IPL career began in the year 2021 and has been playing for KKR since then. He played 62 matches from IPL 2021 to 2025, scoring 1468 runs at an average of 29.95. His best season was IPL 2023, where he scored 404 runs in 14 matches. But his performance was poor after receiving a heavy price of Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction.
In IPL 2025, 30 -year -old Venkatesh Iyer was able to score only 142 runs in 11 matches and emerged as the third most expensive player. Due to such a huge price and burden of poor form, he got a chance to bat only in 7 matches.
Answer on speculation of SRH trade
After poor performance, it was expected that KKR would release Venkatesh Iyer. The speculation intensified when the news came that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is interested in joining him in his team and in return, Ishaan could also trade Kishan.
However, Venkatesh Iyer himself reacted to these reports. In a statement to Sportskida, he said, “I am not aware of this at all. KKR Management has not given me any information.”
Ahead
Cricket pundits believe that if KKR releases Venkatesh Iyer, it can save a purse of about Rs 24 crore, which will give the team a chance to make major changes in the next season. Former cricketer Akash Chopra also said that more than one good players can be purchased in such a huge amount and Iyer can also be brought back at a low price if needed.
