Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan released on 10 October has now crossed ₹300 crore globally. The action entertainer directed by TJ Gnanavel had received mixed reviews, however, the film managed to satisfy Rajinikanth’s fans.

The film is in the news again not because of its collections, but because of something the Jai Bhim director has said.

In the recently held success meet, TJ Gnanavel said that he is looking forward to creating a prequel for Vettaiyan.

He said that he wishes to delve into the life of Athiyan (Rajinikanth) and how he became the encounter specialist and also focus on Fahadh Faasil’s transformation from a thief to a police informant.

The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, who is a human rights activist in the film, Dushara Vijayan, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier.

In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is an encounter specialist, who changes his path after an intervention from Amitabh Bachchan’s character.

In fact this film is Amitabh Bachchan’s debut in Tamil films.

In the same press meet, Gnanavel also spoke about the ambiguous nature of encounters, if they are justified or fabricated, he further added that according to his research, many poor people die in such encounters, while the wealthy escape justice.

Fahadh Faasil’s hat tip to Rajinikanth

On the other hand, the makers released a deleted scene of the film featuring Fahadh Faasil.

In which, Fahadh Faasil delivers Rajinikanth’s iconic dialogue from his yesteryear hit Muthu. The scene, which involves Patrick and Ritika Singh’s character Roopa, has garnered significant attention on social media.

The makers wrote on X: “Patrick’s fanboy moment hits differently in this VETTAIYAN  unseen video, as he recreates Thalaivar’s legendary dialogue!”

“Vettaiyan is a blend of class and commercial elements making it a complete entertainer. Rajinikanth’s swag has definitely worked in this TJ Gnanavel film which is based on extra-judicial killings,” our review read.
