Opposition coalition Vice Presidential candidate from Supreme Court retired from Supreme Court, Justice B Sudarshan Reddy filed nominations on Thursday. Reddy filed nomination in four sets. 20 leaders including Kharge became the proponent.

At the time of nomination, many big leaders including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, NCP (SP) Sharad Pawar were present in the Lok Sabha.

Reddy paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the inspiration site in the Parliament complex before filing nominations. The election for the post of Vice President will be held on 9 September.

After filing nominations, B Sudarshan Reddy said that this election is not only an election of one person, but is associated with the idea of ​​India where Parliament works honestly, disagreement is respected and institutions serve people with freedom and impartiality.

Reddy further said that if he is elected, he will follow the post of Vice President with fairness, dignity, dialogue and courtesy.

Reddy competes with NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan. The special thing is that both the candidates are from South. Reddy will enroll on 21 August. He has filled the nomination on Wednesday. PM Narendra Modi became the first proposer.

The 79 -year -old Reddi has been the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court and the first Lokayukta of Goa. He hails from Andhra Pradesh. In 2007, a judge of the Supreme Court was appointed.

Voting will be held on 9 September for the Vice Presidential election. There will also be counting on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is 21 August. Candidates can be withdrawn by 25 August.

In fact, the Vice President is being elected due to Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation on the night of 21 July. The tenure of 74 -year -old Dhankar was till 10 August 2027.
