In the second semi -final match of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, South Africa Champions defeated Australia Champions by 1 run to qualify for the final. In this match, AB de Villiers played an important role in the African team’s victory and took away the victory from Australia with his tight fielding in the last over of the match.

When the two teams came face to face in Edgbaston, Birmingham on 31 July, the match started with South Africa batting first. De Villiers was dismissed for just six runs. However, JJ Smuts and Morne Van Van scored 57 and 76 runs respectively, performing brilliantly with the bat. Due to these innings, South Africa Champions scored a total of 186 runs in the first innings of the match. For Australia, Peter Siddal took the most four wickets.

After this, the Australian champions started chasing the target and openers Shaun Marsh and Chris Lynn scored 25 and 35 runs respectively. Short added 35 runs, while Christian remained unbeaten after scoring 49 runs. When the match reached the last over, Australia Champions needed three runs off the last ball and AB de Villiers, who was fielding in Deep, played an important role for his team.

Nathan Culter-Nile played the ball towards long-on and tried to run two runs but De Villiers came running with an inch-perfect throw and Wayne Parnell won the formalities of the run out at the non-striker end and won the South Africa Champions by one run.

With this victory, South Africa Champions have confirmed their place in the final match of the competition by winning the second semi -final of the tournament. Now this team will take on Pakistan Champions in the final to win the title.
