Andre Russell Receives Guard of Honor in 2nd T20I: The second match of the T20 series between Australia and West Indies was played on Wednesday, 23 July at the Sabina Park Cricket Stadium in Kingston where Australia defeated the Caribbean team by 8 wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the series. In this match, with the defeat of the West Indies, the international career of star all -rounder Andre Russell also ended.
Andre Russell was given a passionate guard of honor as the last landed by the West Indies. As he descended down the stairs of the pavilion, the Australian and West Indies players stood in queue to salute the incredible career of this all -rounder. When Russell was moving towards the fifties in his last innings, Nathan Ellis took his wicket and ended his career.
Russell said in a statement, “Words cannot be told what it meant. Representing the West Indies has been one of the most glorious achievements of my life. When I was a child, I did not expect to reach this point, but as you start playing and start loving the game, you realize what you can achieve in the colors because I inspire me to be better.
