During the third ODI, Bangladesh A wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan made a mistake that is rarely seen in cricket history. Due to his positioning, the helmet kept on the ground came under the grip of rules and New Zealand A got 5 runs for free without playing a single ball.

Fielding placement and wicketkeeper’s awareness in cricket matters a lot, but what will happen when the wicketkeeper leaves his place? Something similar was seen in the third ODI between Bangladesh A and New Zealand A played in Sylhet.

Bangladesh wicketkeeper and captain Nurul Hasan on the fifth ball of the fifth over of the match made himself stand close to the first slip instead of standing behind the wicket. Fast bowler Ebadot Hussain was bowling from the front. The ball was thrown out of the off stump, which was left by batsman Rece Maryu.

Now the real drama happened. The ball went straight and hit a helmet placed on the ground behind the stumps. This helmet belonged to the fielding team of Bangladesh. According to Rules (MCC Law 28.3), if the ball hits a helmet on the fielding side of the field lying on the field, then the batting team immediately gets 5 runs as a penalty, so the umpire gave 5 runs to New Zealand A without delay.

After this incident, cricket fans enjoyed fiercely on social media and this mistake of Bangladesh was trolled a lot. However, New Zealand A won the match by 4 wickets, but Bangladesh A had already won the series 2–1. Therefore, this victory was comforted only for New Zealand.
