Along with this, debris entered the tehsil headquarters Radibagad to the residence of the Sub -Collector residence, the residence of the Nagar Panchayat President and many houses in Radibagad have caused damage due to debris. Many bikes and other vehicles are in the grip of debris. People are in panic since the incident and amidst heavy rains, people ran away from homes and saved their lives by going to safe places.

Cloudy burst causes havoc

1. Damage in Tharali Bazaar, Kotdeep, and Tehsil Tharali campus: In Tharali town, a large amount of debris was accumulated in Tehsil campus, SDM housing, and many houses due to cloudburst after midnight on Friday (22 August 2025). Some vehicles parked in the tehsil premises were also buried under the rubble, which damaged the vehicles. Due to strong current and debris, the roads of the town became like a pond.

2. Casicated in Sagwara village: In the nearby Sagwara village, a woman was reported to have died due to being buried under the rubble, causing chaos in the area. People ran out of their homes. Police and administration teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations

3. Some shops in the Chapad market have been damaged due to debris. In addition, a person’s disappearance is reported, causing the situation to become more serious.

4. Tharali-Gwaladam Marg has been blocked due to debris and heavy rains near Minggadera, causing traffic to a complete standstill.

5. Tharali-Sagwara road is also closed due to debris and rain, affecting the movement in the area.

6. The team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Gauchar has left for the scene. The administration is active to accelerate relief and rescue operations.

7. Border Rhodes Organization (BRO) near Meing Khadere is working to open the road to smooth traffic and relief operations.

Today schools have been closed

– The district administration has ordered all schools and Anganwadi centers of Tharali tehsil to be closed on Saturday (August 23, 2025).

District Magistrate Dr. Sandeep Tiwari informed that police and administration teams are engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot.

There were reports of damage even before heavy rains and cloudburst incidents in Chamoli district, such as houses, shops, and gaushalas in the Sol Valley and Kera villages were buried in the debris.
