Indian student was laid on the ground with handcuffs
New York: A video of an Indian student being handcuffed by handcuffing has surfaced at the Newark Liberty International Airport in the US. In the video going viral on social media, the student is shown lying on the ground, while at least four officers are holding him, two of whom are putting their knees on his back. He tied the legs and hands of the student. The video shows that the student is crying.

A video recorded by eyewitness and Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain shows that police officers are treating the Indian student like a criminal. Jain said that the police officers were saying that they do not understand Hindi. He was speaking in Haryanvi language. I thought maybe I could help him. I went there and asked a police officer if I could help him understand him. But they did not allow me to do so.
Indian Embassy said that the officers are in touch
The Indian Consulate General on Monday said that he was in touch with the local authorities after the video of the Indian person was deported with handcuffs. Giving information on the social media platform ‘X’ on Monday, the Indian Embassy said that we have received information through social media posts that an Indian citizen is facing difficulties at Newark Liberty International Airport. We are in touch with local authorities in this matter. The embassy also said that it is “always committed” to the welfare of Indian citizens.
Kunal Jain said- The young man was not allowed to climb on the plane
In the video posted online by Indian-American social entrepreneur Kunal Jain, the Air Port Authority Police has put the Indian person on the ground and handcuffed. Kunal said in his post, “The parents of this boy would not know what is happening to him. The young man was going to travel with me in the same plane, but he could not ride in it. Somebody should find out what New Jersey officials are doing with him. He seemed very upset and confused.
