The heavy rains in Budapanka village in Mohana block of Gajapati district of Odisha have disturbed life. Due to the torrential rains that have been released for the last several days, the water level of the rivers and drains of the area is continuously increasing, which is directly impacting the everyday life of the villagers, especially on the education of children.

Children going to school after risking their lives

The river flowing between Budapanka village and Khajuripada School has become a curse for the villagers these days. Children have to cross this river to cover a distance of about 2 kilometers. This journey has become very dangerous due to lack of bridge.

On Tuesday, heartbreaking scenes came out, where many parents were sitting on their shoulders and crossing the swollen river to school. At the same time, some school children themselves were risking the risk of crossing the fast -flowing water. This view was no less than a disaster sector, which reflects the apathy of the local administration.

Children’s education stops in rain

According to the information, as soon as the rain is slightly sharp, the river is filled with water by 3 to 4 feet. Due to this, Budapanka village is completely submerged and it becomes impossible for children to go to school. When the water level is high during heavy rainy days, the parents are unable to send the children to school even if they want to have a direct impact on their studies.

Old problem, unheard demand

This problem is not new. This is the horrific situation every year during the rainy season. The villagers and the school administration have several times demanded the construction of a bridge over the river from the local administration, but regrettably no concrete steps have been taken in this direction. Local people are now demanding the administration to construct a bridge on this river, so that the education of the children is not interrupted and the villagers do not have to face such problems every year.
