Rohit Sharma’s fate was undoubtedly supported him in the eliminator match against Gujarat Titans but on Sunday, June 1, his luck against Punjab Kings in the second qualifier match of IPL 2025. Rohit was dismissed for just eight runs in this match. Rohit wanted to hit a six off Marcus Stoinis in the third over but the ball and bat connection did not happen well and he was caught out in the deep mid-wicket field.
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer surprised many people by handing over the third over part-time medium pacery to Stoinis. Even Harbhajan Singh, who was present in the commentary box, looked very unhappy with Iyer’s decision but Iyer’s move proved to be massestroke and the Australian all -rounder dismissed Rohit Sharma in his first over.

Talking about this match, Johnny Bairstow took the front for Mumbai in Powerplay and hit 38 runs in 24 balls. He initially made good shots but got caught by Vijaykumar Vishaq in the 7th over. He was scoring runs in the last over as well, but Umarzai also dismissed him. Umarzai was the most successful bowler from Punjab – with 2 wickets. Jamison, Chahal, Stoinis and Vijaykumar also got one wicket each.
