Red handed arrested taking bribe of 10 lakh
On Sunday, Vigilance caught a bribe by Vigilance, a sub-sector Dhiman Chakma of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district of Odisha. He is accused of being caught taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a local businessman. This amount is said to be the first part of the total demand of Rs 20 lakh. Dhiman Chakma is a 2021 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Vigilance team raided
According to the information, Dhiman Chakma called the victim businessman to his government residence and took a bribe of 10 lakhs. The number of notes was a total of 26 bundles, including Rs 100 and 500 rupee notes. He counted the notes with his hands and placed them in the office table. Later, when the vigilance team raided, both their hands and drawer confirmed the bribe in the chemical test.
47 lakh cash recovered from home
When the Vigilance team searched his government residence, cash worth 47 lakhs was recovered from there. The total recovered amount so far has reached 57 lakhs. At the moment, the search proceedings are going on and further revelations are likely to happen.
Raids and investigation still continue
In this case, a case has been registered under the case number 6/2025 at the Vigilance Cell police station under the Amendment Act of Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and the Amendment Act of 2018. The raids and investigations are still going on and soon more revelations are expected to be made.
