Vijay Antony’s 16-year old daughter dies by suicide, his old statements on her, youth suicide go viral

New Delhi: Tamil actor Vijay Antony’s teenage daughter passed away recently in a suspected case of suicide. 16-year-old Meera reportedly died by suicide on September 19, and was taken to a Chennai hospital near her home where she was declared dead. According to reports, Meera was battling depression and was being treated for it as well. Antony has often spoken about staying strong despite difficulties. Given the current tragedy, his statements on suicide and how he likes to allow his daughter to be the way she is are now going viral.

In a previous interview Vijay had shared how he let’s his daughter Meera just be, saying, “I let my daughter to be herself and do what she wants. If she wants to read, she can. If not, I don’t force her to do it.”

In a previous interview, Antony had shared how he lost his father when he was only 7, adding that no matter how painful life gets one must not commit suicide as it is heartbreaking for the children. He had revealed that his sister was only 5 when his father died, and how it became very difficult for his mother after that.

He had even spoke about when younger people and children have suicidal thoughts due to financial situations or betrayal of trust. Saying how sending children from school to tuition directly does not even allow them to think or be free. He added, “As for adults, I want them to love themselves rather than be obsessed over wealth and success.”
