According to Vedic almanac, the sleep of God begins with Vishnushayan Ekadashi. Along with Devshayan, ‘Chaturmas’ also starts. Along with Devshayan, Manglik episodes like marriage, grubhram, grihavvesh, mundan are stopped. Religion is a system and to keep this system flowing in a systematic manner, it was necessary to follow its rules. The society considers any rule for only two reasons- the first reason is ‘greed’ and the second reason is ‘fear’, in addition to a third and best reason, it is- ‘love’ but those who give importance to that basis are rare.
If we call God of present society a joint form of ‘greed’ and ‘fear’, then it will not be an exaggeration. There are more country-time reasons behind the spiritual reasons behind the Devshayan festival of Hinduism. These days the rainy season has started, due to normal life, due to rain, it becomes slightly disturbed and home covered.
If you look at the spiritual perspective, then Devshayan never happens. The one who cannot touch the sleep and who wakes up the person with sleep is God. Consider how this creation will be operated if God sleeps! The ‘Ishwar’ is also the name of the element awake in sleep and by the mere appearance, the person is also able to wake up in sleep.
Lord Krishna says in the Gita ‘Or Nisha Sarvabhutanam Tasyam Jagarti Sanyam‘That is, when it is a night for everyone, a yogi still wakes up. It does not mean that physically the yogi does not sleep; Sleep but he is awake at the bottom of Chaitanya.
The name of sleep is the world and Jagran’s name is ‘Ishwar’. Think yourself how that supremely awake element can sleep! Devshayan; Devajagaran is all systemic things. If the present generation is to be connected to religion, then it is necessary to explain the hidden objectives of these traditions.
