Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri told how The Kashmir files changed, said- ask a Kashmiri Pandit what he got …
Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has always made films that bring out strong debate and true stories. A big example of this is his film ‘The Kashmir Files’, which put the truth of the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in front of everyone. While the film proved to be a blockbuster at the box office on the one hand, on the other hand its effect was very deep, and even today the directors are often seen talking about its importance.
Recently in a podcast, when Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri was asked by the impact of ‘The Kashmir Files’ and what Kashmiris got from this film, they responded in detail. He said, you ask these questions to any Kashmiri Pandit. Ask him what he got from this film.

Then he himself raised the question and answered it, you want to know what he got? I tell you. Have you seen the movie? Have you seen the last scene from Girija Devi? I got an email from his family, from his sister. He wrote, in the last 30 years, no one in the house had taken the name of Didi. Not a word. After watching your film, we all joined on a zoom call, and kept crying all night. For the first time, we got a little relaxed.
Vivek said, you ask a Kashmiri Pandit what he got. This is the only thing. Secondly, ask him what India got from this film. India got this film – in Capital, in the UK Parliament, in Germany, all over the world. It was a negative that Kashmir was forcibly captured by India. For the first time, the world got a second view. Awareness came.

He said, ‘Free Kashmir, Free Kashmir’, people used to shout slogans like children. You have heard such slogans after the film came? After that Yasin Malik is in jail. The government has created a tribunal for Kashmiri Pandits, where they can come and speak. Talking on Kashmir today is an honor.
Vivek said, it is a matter of pride today to talk about Kashmiri Pandits. So don’t say that nothing happened in the film. That film changed the consciousness of the country. And it has been proved that neither stars are needed, nor glamor, nor of any support – if you have strength in your truth, then that thing will definitely reach people.
Talking about the work front, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is now bringing The Bengal files. He himself wrote and directed this film. Tej Narayan Aggarwal and IM Buddha are presenting it. The Bengal files will be released worldwide on 5 September.
