Govindchami alias Charlie Thomas was sentenced to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a 23 -year -old woman. He escaped from Kannur Central Jail in the early hours of Friday. The police has intensified the search for the prisoner after he was found missing from his cell at around 7.15 am. According to the information, Govindchami was placed in the high security cell of the jail. He ran away from jail after cutting the iron bars of the closet.
Govindchami is one of the most disgusting persons in Kerala’s crime record. This habitual criminal of Tamil Nadu was already facing several cases of theft and looting around Salem. She was then arrested by the Kerala police in February 2011 for rape and murder of a 23 -year -old woman.
