On the one hand, Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe’s next offering ‘War 2’ is the sequel to the 2019 superhit film ‘War’. On the other hand, ‘Coolie’, directed by Tamil cinema veteran Lokesh Kanagaraja and starring superstar Rajinikanth, is a new standalone crime thriller film. By Monday afternoon, 6978 shows in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages for ‘War 2’ were pre-booking. The 2019 ‘War’ had made an advance booking of Rs 32.50 crore before its release. ‘Pathan’ pre-booking Rs 32.01 crore and ‘Tiger 3’ pre-booking Rs 22.97 crore. Even the recently released Yash Raj’s film ‘Saira’ had recorded advance booking of Rs 9.39 crore. In comparison, the performance of ‘War 2’ so far can be said to be disappointing.
How is ‘Coolie’ and ‘War 2’ begin?
On the other hand, Rajinikanth’s film ‘Coolie’ has made a tremendous start in the case of advance booking. Till Monday morning, 716 949 tickets were sold for this film, which has earned a gross of Rs 14.80 crore. The largest part of this figure has come from the Tamil version, which has earned Rs 14.39 crore alone. Apart from this, there has been a business of 29.25 lakh in Hindi language, 10.41 lakh in Telugu and Rs 1.07 lakh in Kannada. Both films are made keeping in mind the Pan India Audiences. In ‘War 2’, Telugu superstar is going to be seen as Junior NTR Villain for the first time, who will collide with Hrithik Roshan in this sequel. Kiara Advani is playing the role of lead actress. The film has been directed by Ayan Mukherjee and its budget is said to be around 400 crores.
On the other hand, ‘Coolie’ is made under the banner of Sun Pictures and its budget is about Rs 375 crore.
