Recently, two veterans of Indian cinema, Hrithik Roshan-Junior NTR’s ‘War 2’ and superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ were face to face at the box office. Both films took advantage of the long weekend of Independence Day. But it is interesting to know who was ahead in the real battle of box office between these two.

Total collection: ‘Coolie’ won

In the first weekend of four days, ‘Coolie’ took the lead, leaving behind ‘War 2’. According to trade analysts, ‘Coolie’ made a net collection of about Rs 194.25 crore in India in the first four days, while ‘War 2’ collected Rs 187 crore. Coolie’s collections are slightly high, but that movie is ahead.

Regional Performance: South vs. North

The success of films at the box office depends largely on regional performance. ‘War 2’ and ‘Coolie’ showed their strength in different areas in this case.

‘Coolie’ storm in South India: Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ earned tremendous earnings in South India, especially Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. The film achieved historical opening in Tamil Nadu alone. At the same time, ‘Coolie’ also left behind ‘War 2’ in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The magic of Rajinikanth’s star power and the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraja was clearly seen. The collection of South India for ‘Coolie’ was great, which helped it to overtake ‘War 2’. War 2 was able to collect only Rs 57 crore in South India.

‘War 2’ dominated North India: ‘War 2’ performed well in North India. The film was very much liked in Hindi -speaking areas, the credit goes to the pair of Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR. The film earned well in major markets like Maharashtra, Delhi, NCR and Karnataka. However, the initial collection of the film saw ups and downs. After the first day, its earnings declined, but still maintained its strong hold in North India. War collected Rs 130 crore in 4 days in North India.

Collection status: Good or bad?

War 2: According to the budget, the collection of War 2 did not remain as expected. The film had got the best weekend, but the audience did not come to the cinema as many as it was expected. The collection of this film of Rs 400 crore was less than expected.

‘Coolie’: The collection of ‘Coolie’ was excellent. The film not only achieved a great opening, but also earned well in its first weekend. However, the film will have to perform for a long time to succeed.

This is a healthy competition at the box office, which gave cinema lovers a great entertainment experience. There was a lot of stir in theaters and if the collections of both films were added, then there was a collection of more than three and a half crores in four days.
