The US Customs and Border Security (CBP) have given strict warning to the green card holders. The warning states that the green card holders should not leave the house without giving proof of their immigration status. In a post on X, CBP has said that every foreigner aged 18 years or older has to keep any foreign registration certificate or foreign registration receipt card that has been given to him. “If not done, strict action may be taken if the federal law enforcement is stopped and a penalty can be imposed.”
Can green card holders have difficulty?
The Homeland Security Statistics Office estimates that till January 1, 2024, about 1.28 crore people have a valid permanent resident status. Green card can be difficult for holders if they do not keep evidence of their situation, even if they have legal permission to live and work in the US. Additionally, US citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) have warned that the status of expulsion or permanent residence may take away if the law is not followed.

Those who have green cards also have rights. They have the right to seek legal representation and remain silent when they are detained by federal authorities. It is necessary to submit the document, but it is not necessary to respond to the inquiry of immigration officers without legal representation.
