Retired Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is captaining Dindigul Dragons in 2025 and his team suffered an embarrassing defeat against Ideme Tiruppur Tamizhans in the fifth match of this tournament. In this match, Ashwin could neither leave his mark with the bat nor could he show anything amazing with the ball, but despite this he remained in the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Ashwin, who came to open in this match, expressed his displeasure with the woman umpire after being declared LBW. Ashwin was shocked by the decision after the umpire was declared a LBW and in frustration he slammed his pad with the bat. The incident was seen in the fifth over of the innings when Ashwin tried to play a paddle sweep in this over thrown by R Sai Kishore but he missed the ball completely and went on the pad.
Sai Kishore and his team appealed and the umpire did not hesitate to raise the finger, making Ashwin angry. His displeasure was made on seeing it because it seemed that the ball was picked outside the leg stump and those notouts could be given. Talking about this match, the first wicket of Dragons fell for 39 runs, but despite this the entire team could score 93 runs in 16.2 overs. Captain Ashwin was one of the three cricketers who reached double -point and later the opposition team easily achieved the target by losing just 1 wicket. Ashwin, who scored 18 runs with the bat in this match, proved to be very expensive with the ball and he was robbed of 28 runs without taking wickets in his two overs.
