MS Dhoni’s IPL future a big suspense for his fans

Over the last four seasons of the IPL, Dhoni’s future as a player is always the hot topic during the matches of CSK. By the end of the season, the speculations of the former CSK skipper playing his last season are always in the fore. The player himself is asked about it every year.

With the IPL 2025 auction to be a mega auction, the five-time IPL champions CSK will have to ponder a lot to decide their retention policies. The news on the brighter note is that they can retain Dhoni in the older uncapped player rule, where a player who hasn’t played international cricket for last five years or isn’t part of BCCI’s central contract list will be considered as an uncapped player.

Dhoni retired from all formats of international cricket in August 2020, though his last appearance in the Indian shirt was made in July 2019 during the 2019 World Cup. His competitive cricket is limited only to IPL in the last four years.

The CSK management is yet to take a call on its retention of players with the final date to submit the list is October 31.
