According to the report by People Magazine, the incident captured on camera took place on the streets of Brazilian famous city of Rio de Janeiro. Clara Neri, a reporter of Brazilian network band Rio, was preparing for live broadcasting from the streets of Rio de Janeiro last week, when the shocking incident took place.

The video shows that a man riding a motorcycle comes from behind and snatches his phone from his hand while passing by the reporter. All this happens when the camera remains on. However, the thief does not succeed in its intention. The good thing is that while running, the phone fell from the thief’s hand, which was picked up by Clara.

After this incident, Clara Neri posted a video of it on Instagram. He wrote, “It was a very scary experience before leaving live, but it is important that I am fine and everything went well.” Neri thanked those who supported him on social media. He wrote, “Thank you for the messages and support of my colleagues, military police and civil police.” He also appealed to the public in identifying the suspect and wrote “Let’s share his face, he wants to be recognized.”
What will happen after arrest?
According to New York Post, Reporter Clara said, “We have confidence in the work of military police and civil police. We have no doubt that he will be found and arrested. It remains to be seen whether his custody will be retained after the arrest or not, because we see many such cases, but unfortunately, such criminals are released after a few days.”

Significantly, the incidents of phone theft in Rio de Janeiro have increased by 27 percent in June this month of 2024. More than 2,300 phones were reported stolen in June 2025, which was 1,808 last year.
