WCL 2025: ‘I Love India, I Love Pakistan’, Brett Lee broke silence when India-Pakistan match was canceled
The match between India and Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) has been canceled amid widespread resentment. Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has also given his opinion after the cancellation of this match. He said that this situation is difficult for both teams but I love both countries.
Earlier, many Indian players like spinner Harbhajan Singh, opener Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina and all -rounder Yusuf Pathan had withdrawn their names from this match after which the organizers finally had to cancel the match. This decision came after the heinous terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April. The incident further spoiled the delicate relations between India and Pakistan.
Speaking at a press conference representing the Australian Champions team, Lee said, “This is a difficult question. But I will say that I love India, I love Pakistan. So I hope that he will reach a discretion where he can appreciate himself. But the most important thing is that we are here for a tournament. What happened is that we put an insistence for it. “
WCL in its official statement revealed that the India-Pakistan match was held with the intention of increasing goodwill. The decision was taken taking inspiration from the recent volleyball match between the two countries. However, the move was severely criticized, especially by the Indian party, after which the organizers had to cancel the match. WCL also issued an apology for any trouble or inconvenience caused by this announcement and admitted that they might have incorrectly assessed the emotional atmosphere.
