New Delhi: Many areas of the country including Mumbai have been raining for the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rain for the next 48 hours in many states of the country including Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rainfall is expected in 26 states and union territories.

These states will rain till 24 August

The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, West Bengal and Sikkim between 20 and 24 August. Northern states including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh are also expected to receive heavy rainfall during this period.

There will be rain in northeastern states

At the same time, very heavy rains are likely to receive heavy rains at different places in coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Central Internal and Northern Internal Karnataka. Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura in the Northeast are expected to receive intense rainfall especially between August 20 to 24.

There will be rain in Bihar and Jharkhand

The Meteorological Department said that Bihar and Jharkhand would be heavy during August 20-25. At the same time, in Chhattisgarh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, thunder and lightning are expected to fall with light to moderate rains during the next 5 days. There is a possibility of light/moderate rainfall at many places with thunder and electricity in Jammu and Kashmir-Gitle-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan during the next 7 days.

Strong winds will run in many states

IMD has warned of thunderstorms and lightning in many areas along with strong winds (40–50 km per hour) in coastal and southern states. Parts of Jammu and Kashmir including Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad may also receive heavy rainfall with strong winds of 30-40 kmph. The areas adjacent to Delhi, including Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, are placed on a yellow alert and there will be light thunderstorms, the maximum surface wind speed will be less than 40 kmph.
