Aaib’s investigation report came to light in the Ahmedabad plane crash.

New Delhi: The Bureau of the Aircraft Accident Investigation (AAIB) has released a primary inquiry report after completing one month of the Ahmedabad aircraft accident. According to AAIB, the engine fuel control switches of Air India’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft stopped just a few seconds after flying. One pilot asked the other why he stopped the flight, while the other replied that he did not do so. The AAIB has released a 15-page report on the incident, which took place about 30 seconds after the aircraft flew. In this, AAIB has stated that fuel control switches were launched later, but the accident could not be stopped due to low speed in an engine.

What happened before the accident?

Releasing primary report a month after this painful accident, Aaib said that the air/ground sensor of the aircraft went into air mode, which was in accordance with flying on 08:08:39 UTC. The report cited the advanced airborne flight recorder (EAFR) of the aircraft, saying, “The aircraft gained a maximum record of 180 not IAS at around 08:08:42 UTC and immediately after the engine 1 and engine 2 fuel cutoff switch was converted into a cutoff position with a time interval of 2 fuel cutoff switch 01 seconds.” According to the report, their take-off value began to decrease due to the closure of the fuel supply of engine N1 and N2. The report said, “In cockpit voice recording, a pilot is heard asking the other why he did the take-off. The other pilot replied that he did not do so.”

Giving details of the accident, Aaib said that the CCTV footage obtained from the airport was shown to be deployed to the RAM Air Turbine (RAT) during the initial climb soon after flying. The report said, “No significant bird activity was seen around the flight path. The aircraft began to lose height before crossing the wall of the airport circumference.” According to the EAFR, the fuel cut-off switch of the engine 1 was converted from cutoff to Run at around 08:08:52 UTC. After this, at 08:08:56 UTC, the fuel cut-off switch of the engine 2 also converted from cutoff to run.

The report said, “EGT (exhaust gas temperature) was seen rising in both engines, which was a sign of re-ignition. The engine 1 core stopped, reversed and began to furious. The engine 2 could again ignite, but the core motion could not stop the motion and the core motion and re-enforcement to increase the core speed acceleration and re-enhancing the fuel. Stopped on UTC. At around 08:09:05 UTC, one of the pilots broadcast ‘Meedy Meedy Meedy’ and when the Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) inquired about the call sign, no response was found, but the ATCO saw the plane crashing outside the airport and activated the emergency response. “
