What is the difference between pre-monsoon and monsoon, understand in easy language
Difference between monsoon and pre monsoon: In the country scorched by heat, the sound of monsoon showers is now being heard. This rainy season, which brings the message of life for the earth, is finally close. But have you ever wondered how the Meteorological Department decides that the monsoon has arrived? What is the difference between pre-monsoon showers and real monsoon rains? Come, let’s expose this mystery.
When does the monsoon bell ring:
The arrival of monsoon does not announce. For this, meteorologists closely monitor two important parameters. When these two situations occur simultaneously, then only the monsoon knock is considered:
1. Speed of West winds: The direction and speed of the wind is an important sign of the arrival of monsoon. If the wester winds are flowing at a speed of more than 4-5 kilometers per hour, it is a sign of coming close to the monsoon.
2. Widespread spread of rain: Light rain is not identified only at a few places. The real monsoon is believed to have recorded widespread rainfall in most areas of the country. Out of about 15 monitoring stations of the Meteorological Department, at least 60% of the stations should receive good rainfall for two consecutive days. This rain should not only be a momentary shower or thunderstorm, but a continuous process.
What is pre-monsoon
The rain before the monsoon, called a pre-monsoon, provides relief from the heat, but it is different from the real monsoon in many ways. Pre-monsoon rains are formed due to local factors, such as excessive temperature, raising air and moisture. It often comes with thunder and electricity and calms down for a while.
There is also a difference in clouds
There is also a difference between monsoon and pre-monsoon clouds. Monsoon clouds from far and wide, moisture from the seas and travel long distances from one place to another. This is the reason that the amount of moisture in these clouds is very high and the rain from them is also very fast and long lasting. The form of monsoon clouds also varies from pre-monsoon clouds; They appear to be more dense and spread, which cover the entire sky. At the same time, pre-monsoon clouds are often seen moving upwards and their duration is limited.
When does monsoon come in India
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated that this year the monsoon will reach Kerala by 27 May, which is prematurely. The monsoon usually comes in the country till 1 June. South-west monsoon activities have already started. This will definitely benefit the farmers and will also provide relief in summer.
