BCCI Update on Kohli and Rohit: There are many questions in the minds of fans regarding the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Did he decide to withdraw himself or was there any gesture from the board, now BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has said a lot on this issue. He also told that when both senior players will return to cricket now.

Team India is currently playing a Test series in England, where Shubman Gill is commanding the team as a captain. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, July 15, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla while talking to Media, while talking on Kohli and Rohit, said that Kohli and Rohit themselves had decided to retire from Test and T20, the board did not remove them. He said, “I want to make it clear, this decision was completely that of Rohit and Virat. The board has a policy that he does not ask any player for retirement. It is the will of the players to say that format.”

Rajiv Shukla also admitted that the lack of both is clearly visible in the team. “We are all missing his presence. He is the great batsman of Indian cricket and will remain. The good thing is that both are available for ODI formats.”

Let me tell you, Rohit and Kohli retired from T20 International after the 2024 T20 World Cup and also said goodbye to Test cricket in May this year.

Shukla also told that if India’s tour of Bangladesh was not canceled, both the players could return to international cricket next month. Now their next possible return is being considered on Australia’s visit to India in October if no new series is added.

Meanwhile, he also praised Shubman Gill. He said, “Gill has proved himself as a good captain. He has responded to his performance by scoring a century and double century with the bat, what could be better than this.”

Let me tell you, India is currently trailing 2–1 in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. On Monday, India lost by 22 runs in the Lord’s Test on the fifth and last day of the match. In such a situation, there will be a lock in the fourth Test to be played in Manchst from July 23 to return India to the series.
