Where to go first in Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath in Char Dham Yatra, know the journey route
There is a journey of Char Dham in Uttarakhand, but the Char Dham of Hindus is Badrinath, Kedarnath, Jagannath and Rameswaram. Uttarakhand travels to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Order of travel: Badrinath’s doors will open on May 04, 2025 and Kedarnath Dham’s fraud will open on 02 May 2025 at 07 am. According to the order of the journey, first of all Yamunotri, then Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath and finally Badrinath should be seen. Do not forget to see Hemkund Sahib located here. 1. Yamunotri: The first visit to Yamunotri is done. Yamunotri is considered to be the origin of the Yamuna River. The doors here open on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. The Yamuna river originates from a mountain called Kalind. Due to the origin of the river from Mount Kalind, people also call it Kalindi. There is a temple of Yamunaji in Yamanotri. After fixing the road of 220 km from Rishikesh, the climb of Yamanotri starts from a place called Phoolchatti. Devotees can reach Phoolchatti by bus or private vehicle as per their desire.
2. Gangotri: After Yamunotri, he travels to Gangotri. Gangotri is considered to be the origin of the Ganges river. In Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, there is a place called Gangotri which is considered to be the origin of the Ganges river. A holy and ancient temple of Mata Ganga is also built in Gangotri. You arrived here after visiting Yamnaji in Yamunotri.
3. Kedarnath: Kedarnath and Pashupati Nath together form full Shivling. If you have seen Kedarnath, then it is necessary to see Pashupatinath. Kedarnath Temple is located in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This is called Ardhjyotirlinga. It is complete by combining the Pashupatinath temple of Nepal. The temple was first built by the Pandavas behind the current Kedareshwar temple, but the temple disappeared due to the hit of time. Later 508 BC was built by Adishankaracharya a new temple. His tomb is behind this temple. On the second day of Deepawali Mahaparva (Padwa), the temple gates are closed in the winter season. The lamp keeps on burning for 6 months. The priests close the honor board and take the Lord’s Deity and Dandi to Ukhimath under the mountain for 6 months. After 6 months, the doors of Kedarnath open in May. Even before the opening of the doors of Kedarnath, the pilgrims reach Gaurikund or Sonprayag by visiting Yamunotri and Gangotri. The journey of Kedarnath begins from here.
4. Badrinath Dham: The Badrinath Temple situated on the summit of the Himalayas is a huge center of faith of Hindus. It is one of the four dhams. Badrinath Temple is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River in the state of Uttarakhand. This temple is dedicated to Badrinath as Lord Vishnu. Badrinath Temple is considered to be established since time immemorial and the holy Dham of Satyuga. It was founded by Maryada Purushottam Shriram. Before seeing Badrinath, it is considered a great sight to visit Kedarnath. One of the Char Dham has a saying about Badrinath, ‘Jo Ja Ja Ja Ja Jaa, Woh Naa Aaye Odari’. That is, a person who sees Badrinath, does not have to come again in the womb. Meaning one does not have to be born for a second time. According to the scriptures, man must travel to Badrinath at least twice in life.
There are two main routes from Kedarnath to Badrinath: One via Ukhimath, Chopta, Gopeshwar and the other is Prayag. The Ukhimath route is about 207 km and is a good option for visiting the Tungnath temple. Second, the Rudh Prayag path is slightly taller than the Ukhimath path, but in Ruddha Prayag gets a chance to see the confluence of Mandakini and Alaknanda.
