Whether the name in NRC is, Assam’s policy is to send back foreigners- CM Himant
CM Himant Vishwa Sharma
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said on Wednesday that the existing policy of the state government is to send back to foreigners, even if they are named in the National Citizen Register (NRC). Sharma said that the way the names in NRC have been included in Assam, there is a lot of doubt about it and it cannot be the only document to decide a person’s citizenship.
Which people will take action on people?
CM Himanta said on the sidelines of a program in Darrang, “Many people have registered their names in NRC using unfair methods, so we have adopted the policy that if the authority is completely convinced that the person concerned is foreigner, he will be sent back.” He has been sent back to Bangladesh. Some of these people have returned after the neighboring country refused to consider him as their citizens. Sharma said, “I personally do not agree that having a name in NRC is enough to determine that no person is an illegal migrant.”
What else did CM say about NRC?
The CM alleged that social activist and writer Harsh Mandar lived in Assam for two years and sent some youths of the state to the US and England for education and encouraged them to manipulate NRC. Sharma said, “We did not know about these conspiracies at that time. After becoming the Chief Minister, I came to know about these cases. ”He said that 19 people were sent back on Tuesday night and nine other people will be sent back on Wednesday night.
