Which came first the chicken or the egg? Shocking claim of scientists, truth revealed by DNA test
Which came first the chicken or the egg? You must have heard this question. You might have answered this as per your convenience. But now scientists have solved this puzzle scientifically. Scientists were also worried about this puzzle. But finally he got the answer to this question. Let us know whether the egg or the chicken came first.
Scientists at the University of Geneva say that the process of formation of female reproductive cells – eggs – began long before the evolution of chickens. They studied ‘Chromosphaera perkinskii’, a unicellular organism, which was discovered in marine sediments of Hawaii in 2017. The oldest traces of chicken on Earth are thought to be over a billion years old, long before the first animals appeared.
Researchers observed that this organism forms multicellular structures, which are very similar to animal embryos. They say this discovery indicates that the genetic structures necessary for embryonic development, which turn a fertilized egg into a fetus, were already present before animal life.
He explained that nature already had the genetic tools needed to ‘make eggs’, long before the hen was created. “Although Chromosphaera perkinskii is a unicellular organism, its behavior shows that the processes of multicellular coordination and differentiation were already present in this species, before the first animals had even arrived on Earth,” said author Omaya Dudin.
Previous research has also found that hard-shelled eggs, such as chicken eggs, came into existence about 300 million years ago. “It’s amazing that a recently discovered species takes us on a journey back more than a billion years,” said study lead author Marine Olivetta.
Another study published this year found that the ability to lay eggs regularly made chickens attractive to humans, starting the domestication process that led to the chickens they know today.
