White House statement on Adani case: India-America relations will remain unbroken
New Delhi. The White House has issued an important statement regarding allegations of bribery against veteran businessman Gautam Adani for solar energy projects. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the US is aware of these allegations and is keeping an eye on the matter. However, he stressed on the strong relations between India and America and said that this matter will not affect bilateral relations. Carine Jean Pierre said that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Department of Justice (DoJ) can give more information in this matter. But the relations between India and America rest on a deep and strong foundation. He said, “We have resolved many issues in the past and are confident of resolving this matter as well.”
Gautam Adani and his group are accused of offering bribes worth about Rs 2,250 crore to Indian officials to get contracts for solar energy projects in India. These projects were developed with funds from American investors, and according to the allegations, they were expected to generate profits for the group of $2 billion over the next 20 years. Seriousness of the matter- According to the US indictment, Adani Group and its partner company Azure Power won a contract for 12 GW of solar energy from the state-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). But this deal got stuck due to lack of buyers for solar energy in India. These companies are accused of bribing Indian officials to avoid huge losses.
The White House made it clear that this matter will not have any impact on India-US relations. Cooperation and friendship between the two countries will remain strong. Adani Group has rejected these allegations and called them false and malicious. The company says that it will follow all legal procedures and deny these allegations.
