The opposition has also opened its cards for the Vice Presidential election. The ‘India’ alliance on Tuesday announced the name of the candidate for the post of Vice President. Former Supreme Court Judge B.K. Sudarshan Reddy has been nominated by the opposition. The decision was taken in a meeting held at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, where the leaders of the coalition discussed to field a joint candidate.
B. Sudarshan Reddy will compete with CP Radhakrishnan of the NDA alliance, who is the Governor of Maharashtra and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh i.e. the RSS officer. CP Radhakrishnan, former president of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit, was nominated on Sunday. In such a situation, let us know B. About Sudarshan Reddy-
- Born on 8 July 1946, B.K. Sudarshan Reddy enrolled as a lawyer in the Andhra Pradesh Bar Council in December 1971 and practiced in writ and civil affairs in Andhra Pradesh High Court.
- He served as a government lawyer in the Andhra Pradesh High Court between 1988 and 1990 as a permanent lawyer in addition to the Center in 1990.
- B. Sudarshan Reddy also worked as a legal advisor and permanent lawyer at the University of Osmania.
- In May 1995, he was appointed a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and was later promoted as the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court in December 2005.
- On January 12, 2007, he became a judge of the Supreme Court of India and held the post till his retirement on 8 July 2011.
Both alliance candidates are from south
Candidates from both NDA and India alliance are from South for the Vice Presidential election. Retired Justice Reddy is from Andhra Pradesh and CP Radhakrishnan is from Tamil Nadu. Both will file nominations on August 21. Voting will be held on 9 September for the Vice Presidential election. There will also be counting on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is 21 August. Candidates can be withdrawn by 25 August. Let us know that the Vice President is being elected due to Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation on the night of 21 July. The tenure of 74 -year -old Dhankar was till 10 August 2027.
