Who is Saubin Shahir?
Saubin Shahir is an actor as well as a director and producer who is mainly known for working in Malayalam cinema. Fort Kochi, Born in Kerala and raised, is the son of actor Saubin Babu Shahir who used to be an assistant director and production controller, who has worked for films like ‘Manitharathajhu’, ‘Godfather’, ‘In Harihar Nagar’. Following the footsteps of his father, Saubin started as an assistant director of the late director Siddiqui in Mammooti’s ‘Chronic Bachelor’ in Malayalam Cinema. He later worked with several famous directors and even played a small role in Fahd Fasil’s first film ‘Kaitum Dorath’. The film was directed by Fazil, the father of the Marisan actor. He also appeared as a child artist in some films including Mohanlal’s Vietnam Colony before working as an assistant director for directors like Rafi-Mekartin, P. Sukumar, Santosh Sivan, Rajiv Ravi and Amal Neerad.

Saubin has played many small roles before playing a supporting role in Fahd Fasil and Andrea Jeremia starrer ‘Annayam Rasulam’ directed by Rajiv Ravi in 2025. He has appeared in auxiliary roles in many films like ‘Iobinte Bookam’, ‘Masala Republic’, ‘Chandratan Avideya’, which he got a special recognition. However, he was successful when he played a PT teacher in Nivin Poly’s film ‘Premam’ directed by Alphons Putraine. The success of ‘Premam’ made the actor famous and after that he appeared in many films back-to-back. Saubin proved his talent not only in a Commodion role but also as a villain with Fahd’s ‘Maheshinte Pratiraam’, Dulkar Salman starrer ‘Charlie’ and ‘Kammatipadam’. In 2017, Saubin Shahir stepped into direction with ‘Feel-Gud’ drama. In this film, he also played a small role of a villain. He later got the lead role in films like ‘Kumblengi Nights’, ‘Android Kunjappan version 5.25’, ‘Ila Veeha Poonchira’ and ‘Manjummel Boys’. After recent films like ‘Pravinkudu Shappu’ and ‘Machant Malkha’, Saubin Shahir has made her Tamil cinema debut with Rajinikanth, who was released on 14 August.

Saubin Shahir’s family
The actor married Kochi -based marketing professional Jamia Zaheer on December 16, 2017. The couple has a son, who was born in May 2019.
