Aalha Udal Story: Alha Jayanti is being celebrated on Sunday, 25 May in 2025. In Bundeli history, the name of Alha-Udal is taken with great respect. According to Alha Udal’s legend, Alha and Udal had two brothers. He was the brave warrior of Mahoba of Bundelkhand and the feudal of Parmar.

1. It is sung in Alhakhand that these two brothers were warned with the then ruler of Delhi Prithviraj Chauhan. It is said that his brother Veeragati was attained in the war. That is why Alha fought a terrible war with Prithviraj Chauhan and took him hostage. But by the order of Guru Gorakhnath, Alha gave life to Prithviraj. After this, Alha had disinterest in his mind and he retired.
2. It also says that Prithviraj Chauhan, who was the ruler of Delhi and Ajmer, was raising his dominance in northern India. Mahoba was an independent state and Prithviraj Chauhan wanted Mahoba to be under him. Because of this, he invaded Mahoba. Alha and Udal fought with the huge army of Prithviraj Chauhan to protect the freedom and self -respect of their kingdom. He fought bravery, but Udal attained heroism in this war. This made Alha very sad and angry. Later, due to the war that Alla fought, Prithviraj Chauhan’s army had to retreat. Another story is also said that Prithviraj Chauhan made derogatory remarks about Alha’s sister, which led to the war situation.
3. It also says that Alha was blessed with mother Sharda Mai (located in Maihar in Madhya Pradesh), so Prithviraj Chauhan’s army had to retreat. Alha was the last battle with Prithviraj Chauhan, in which Alha gave life to Prithviraj. Therefore, Prithviraj Chauhan’s army had to retreat. According to the mother’s order, Alha had climbed his greens (weapon) on the Sharda temple, which no one has been able to directly. The remains of all historical importance in the temple premises still test the war of Alha and Prithviraj Chauhan. The devotees of Maa Sharada Mai still worship the mother and Aarti. 4. In the court of King Parmar of Kalinjar, a poet named Jagnik composed a poetry called Alha Khand, in which the saga of these heroes is described. This book has a thrilling description of 52 battles of both heroes. He fought the last fight with Prithviraj Chauhan.
5. In Bundeli history, the name of Alha-Udal is taken with great respect. Bundeli poets have also composed the song of Alha, which is sung in every village in Bundelkhand in the month of Sawan. For example, the water here is sung as a saga in the water, the water here. Not only this, the tinkle-bug tone of the big fighter Mahobe is still on the tongue of every Bundel.
