Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal addressed the media on several important issues. He gave information on the meeting of the Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the advisory issued by the US and the withdrawal of Indian citizens from the Israeli-Iran struggle area.

Stand on terrorism at SCO Summit?

Randhir Jaiswal said that the Defense Minister attended a meeting of SCO Defense Ministers on 25 and 26 June. A country had disagreement over our terrorism stand, due to which a joint statement could not be done. We put our stand on terrorism in our statement.

On the new travel advice for India by the US, Jaiswal said that such advice is issued from time to time. He confirmed that India has been on ‘Level 2’ for a long time and there has been no change.

Success of Operation Sindhu ‘

At the same time, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs thanked many countries for the success of ‘Operation Sindhu’, which was started on 18 June. He specifically thanked the Iran government, who opened his airspace to evacuate people of Indian origin. In addition, Turkmenistan, Jordan and the Government of Egypt were also thanked for their cooperation.

Indians returned from Iran and Israel

He said that 40,000 people of Indian origin are in Israel. 3426 people of Indian origin have been removed so far. Those withdrawn include 11 OCI holders, 9 people of Nepali origin, 4 Sri Lankan and 1 Iranian citizen (whose wife are of Indian origin). Citizens will be brought back through a total of 15 flights, out of which 14 flights have already come and 1 flight is coming from Armenia. Due to the closure of Israeli airspace, 818 people of Indian origin were brought to India via Jordan and Egypt in 4 flights.
