Why is the dham of Lord Jagannath, the total deity of the Ikshvaku dynasty, is considered the most special among the four dhams?
In the major pilgrimages of Hinduism, the journey of 4 Dham has special significance. This is the Char Dham- 1. Badrinath, 2. Dwarkadhish, 3. Jagannath and 4. Rameswaram. Apart from this, the journey of Kedarnath, Amarnath, Kailash Mansarovar, Gangotri, Yamunotri, 51 Shaktipeeth, Saptapuri, Kanyakumari and Ganga Sagar is important. Why is Jagannath the most important among the four dhams.
Baikuntha Dham: Jagannath Puri and Badrinath Dham, one of the very holy places of Hinduism and four dhams, have been called Baikuntha on earth. It is considered to be the abode of Lord Vishnu. It is said that all the gods reside in Jagannath Puri. Puri is counted among the Saptapuris. That is, it is counted among the seven holy and most ancient cities of India.
Neelamadhav came to be called Nath Jagannath of Jag: Later, Neelmathva began to be worshiped as Sri Krishna, the 8th incarnation of Srihari Vishnu. Also, his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra also started worshiping. According to local beliefs, it is said that within this idol, Lord Krishna has a body of heart in which Brahma is seated. Earlier, God was worshiped here as Purushottam and Neelamadhav. According to mythology, this place is of the era of Satyuga where the temple was later built.
Purushottam Area: According to Brahma and Skanda Purana, Lord Vishnu descended here as Purushottam Neelamadhav and became the ultimate revered deity of the Sabar tribe. Purushottam Hari is considered to be the form of Lord Rama here. According to Uttarakhand of Ramayana, Lord Rama asked Ravana’s brother Vibhishan to worship Lord Jagannath, the total deity of his Ikshvaku dynasty. Even today, the tradition of Vibhishan Vandapana is maintained in the Shri temple of Puri.
Puri is similar to the southern conch: Puri is also known as the conch region in the Puranas. According to Skanda Purana, Puri is like a southern conch and it is spread over an area of 5 kos i.e. 16 km. It is believed that about 2 Kos regions have been submerged in the Bay of Bengal. Its abdomen is the golden sand of the sea, which keeps the holy water of the gathering. The area with head is in the west direction, which is protected Mahadev. The second form of Shiva in the second circle of the conch sits Brahma Kapal Mochan. It is believed that one head of Lord Brahma was clung to Mahadev’s palm and he fell here and since then worships Mahadev in Brahma form here. Mother Vimala in the third circle of the conch and Lord Jagannath in the navel site sits on the throne. Ramdoot Hanumanji protects this region from the sea.
Shankhadweep: Puri also has a Shankhadweep. It is said that this is also the way to go to Hades. The Nalabana Island, located inside the Chilika Lake, looks like a conch when viewed from above. The same kind of conch that Lord Vishnu holds in his hand. Vaitarani and Mahanadi river where it meets in the ocean is the first place where the alive conch comes to eat the offerings of God.
Vimala Area: According to local belief, the biggest power here is Mata Vimala Devi, who is considered to be Kuldevi of Ravana. This goddess protects the entire Jagannath region. All works are done by the orders of these goddesses. She is the protector goddess here. They are called Yogamaya and Parmeshwari. He is already sitting here from Jagannath. This is called the first Adishta Peeth. The deity of Tantra and Mantra is the same. Maya and Chhaya remain under their control. This is the center of the system.
