Everyone was surprised to see Australia’s playing XI in the WTC final 2025, as Marnas Labushen is doing the young opener team like Opening and Sam Constas. So what is the reason behind this? Captain Pat Cummins himself revealed this.

Australia played a big bet against South Africa in the World Test Championship Final to be played from 11 June. A day before the WTC final on Tuesday 10 June, Australia announced its playing-11 and the board stated that veteran batsman Marnas Labushen has been fielded as an opener, while young Sam Constas had to sit out of the playing XI. These are the same Constas who caught everyone’s attention as soon as he made his debut against India.

Captain Pat Cummins said about the decision that this is a strategic decision -based strategic decision. He clarified, “Constas is very talented, but Labushen’s experience in such a big match will give more strength to our batting.”

The 19-year-old Constas had a strong performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but has been constantly ignoring him since the tour of Sri Lanka. This time too, he was seated outside, although Cummins expressed confidence that his Test career is still long and will definitely get opportunities.

Meanwhile, Labushen is given the responsibility of opening, who usually play in the middle order. Australia hopes that their experience and technology will be able to give the team a strong start against South African fast bowlers.

Australia’s playing-11: Usman Khwaja, Marnas Labushen, Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Beau Webster, Alex Carrie (wicketkeeper), Pat Cummins (Capnins), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lion, Josh Hazlewood.
