Narasimha prakatsav 2025: According to religious texts, Narasimha manifesto, also known as Narsingh Jayanti, is celebrated in memory of the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, half-man of Lord Narsingh and half-half-half of Lord Narsingh. The main reason for celebrating this day is to remember and respect the miraculous way that Lord Vishnu appeared to save his supreme devotee Prahlada from his tyrannical father, demon King Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu had received a boon that he had almost become invincible, because he could be killed in neither man, nor animal, nor deity, nor demon, nor with any weapon, nor inside the house, nor outside, nor outside, nor in the day, nor in the night, nor in the sky.
Lord Vishnu incarnated as Narsingh, to maintain the cosmic system and devotion to Prahlada- neither a whole man nor a completely lion, dignity (day and night), at the threshold of the door (neither inside the house and not inside the house and not), and Hiranyakashipu killed (no traditional weapons nor any living life). This incident demonstrated the power of God to remove any obstacle and protect his devotees under any circumstances.
On Sunday, 11 May 2025, what to do on the auspicious occasion of Narsingh appearance/ Jubilee:
1. Keep fast: Many devotees keep a harsh fast on this day, some also keep Nirjala fast (without water), while others consume fruits and milk only. The fast is usually broken in the evening after the evening worship.
2. Worship: The main worship of Lord Narsingh is traditionally performed at the time of his appearance during the evening/evening.
3. Wear yellow clothes: Wake up early in the morning and take a bath. Wear yellow or clean clothes. Wearing black or blue clothes usually avoids.
4. Narsingh idol or picture of God: Clean the place of worship and purify it with Ganga water. Install the idol or picture of Lord Narsingh on a high post covered with red or yellow cloth. You can also include a picture of Goddess Lakshmi.
5. Murthy Bath: Bath the idol with Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar).
6. Special material of worship: Apply sandalwood paste, kumkum, turmeric and especially yellow or red flowers, incense and ghee lamps.
7. Naivedya/Bhog: Offer special food (naivedya) such as fruits, sweets and jaggery and roasted gram and offer basil leaves.
8. Mantra Text: Narsingh Kavacham and ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Narasimhay.’ Chant the Adi Narsingh Mantras and Stotras.
9. Aarti: Perform the aarti of Lord Narsingh.
10. Follow forgiveness and celibacy: Apologize for any error in worship. It is considered important to follow celibacy on this day.
11. Read the sacred texts: Read or listen to the story of Lord Narsingh from Bhagwat Purana or other related scriptures.
12. Go to temples: If possible, go to the temple of Lord Narsingh to participate in special prayers and rituals.
13. Donate: Donate to the poor and the needy. Donating cold items like water, juice or fan is considered auspicious due to the appearance of Lord Narsingh in Vaishakh month of summer.
14. Night Jagran: Some devotees wake up all night and sing devotional songs and pray.
15. Avoid negative tasks: On this day, it is advisable to speak hard speech or avoid disrespecting elders or weak.
Devotees want the blessings of Lord Narsingh to overcome the devotional Narsingh Jayanti and to remove the obstacles of his life by celebrating Narsingh Jayanti and by doing these activities. It is a day to confirm faith in the victory of divine and righteousness.
