CBSE 12th Class Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering the proposal to allow the use of simple calculator to reduce cognitive pressure associated with long calculations in the 12th grade ‘accounts’ examinations. CBSE allows disabled students to use ‘calculator’ in 10th and 12th grade. The ‘Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISEC)’ allowed students of class 12 to use ‘calculator’ in 2021.
Board officials gave this information. He said that a committee would be formed to ensure uniformity to prepare guidelines on their use.

CBSE allows disabled students to use ‘calculator’ in 10th and 12th grade. The ‘Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISEC)’ allowed students of class 12 to use ‘calculator’ in 2021.
A senior board official said, the board’s course committee had proposed that simple calculator should be allowed in the 12th grade ‘accounts’ examinations, which should be limited to the necessary functions for general financial calculations such as joints, subtractions, multiplications, parts and percentage calculations.

The course committee has also argued that allowing calculator will reduce the cognitive burden of long calculations and reduce the stress of students, while their performance in the examination will improve. (Language)
