England’s greatest Test batsman Joe Root scored a record of records against India by scoring a century in the Manchester Test. He scored 150 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test and during this time he also won several records. Now he has reached the second number in terms of scoring the most runs in Test cricket and now he is just behind Sachin Tendulkar.

With this century, Joe Root has finished second in the list of batsmen who scored the most runs in Test cricket, beating Ricky Ponting (13,378 runs). Root currently has 13,379 runs and now he has only Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs) ahead of him. In such a situation, some fans are asking questions whether the root will break Sachin’s record or not.

After the third day’s play was over, England batsman Oli Pope was asked the same question and the Pope supported the breaking of his partner’s record. Speaking at the press conference after the match, the Pope said that even though the routes are not among the records, they will definitely be keen to reach this record.

The Pope laughed, “They are not among those who achieve records. But this is a great thing. The second most Test run. I am sure he was aware of it. The way he is batting, I am sure he will be inspired to become number 1. He has tremendous hunger.”

Manchester Test match against India was the 157th Test match of Root’s career. It also holds a record of scoring 13,000+ runs in the lowest matches played by a batsman. The current average of the root is 57.40, the second best among the top 5 runs in the Test format. His average is only less than Ricky Ponting (58.72), which is now third in the list of most runs scorers in the history of this format.
