Sourav Ganguly in Politics: Former captain Sourav Ganguly denied entry into politics but said that he did not object to the Indian team being a coach. Ganguly, who was 53 years old in July, was the team director of Delhi Capitals between 2018-19 and 2022-24. Asked that he would like to be the coach of the Indian team, he said in a podcast interview to PTI, “I did not think about it because I have been in different roles.”
He said, “I stopped playing competitive cricket in 2013 and then became the BCCI President.”
When he was told that he could contribute even more by becoming the coach of India, Ganguly said, ‘‘Let’s see what happens next. I am 50 (53) years old. Let’s see what happens. I do not mind this. Let’s see. ”
It is certain that he is not going to enter politics.
Asked if he would join a political party before the 2026 assembly elections in West Bengal, he smiled and said, “I am not interested.”
If he is offered to be made the Chief Minister of the state? On this too, he said, “I am not interested.”
Ganguly was asked which party he would like to join if he gets a chance, this left -handed batsman said that he had never thought about it.
He said, “It is not as easy as you think.” I get an opportunity to enter politics every year, but I don’t think it is my thing. I am not interested in politics, I just see because the progress of a country and a state is directly related to the people who rule.
Ganguly praised the current coach Gautam Gambhir and said that he has caught the rhythm since the Champions Trophy in Dubai.
He said, “Gautam is doing well. The beginning was slow when he lost to Australia and New Zealand but after the Champions Trophy he caught the rhythm. The series against England will be very important. ”
Asked how skilled strategists are Gambhir, he praised Gambhir’s passion and belagon.
He said, “I have not seen him very closely in this role but I have seen his passion.” I did not look closely at his strategies because I did not work with him while his coach. “
Ganguly said, “He talks directly and sees things clearly.” He keeps his thoughts openly. About the team, the players, the people and all. From outside you can say that he is a very transparent person. ”
Recalling the days of his play, he said that Gambhir always respected seniors a lot.
He said, “I have played with him. He always respected me and senior players. There is still a lot of passion within him about his work. ”
He said, “I wish him all the best. It has been a year since he became a coach. The tour of England will be important. There was a little struggle in Australia but he would learn and be better like everyone. ”
Ganguly also revealed that his biopic would be released by the end of 2026 and Rajkummar Rao will be its hero.
He said, “Its shooting will begin in January. Pre-production, script preparing and story writing takes a long time. Shooting does not take much time. ”(Language)
