According to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India, any customer can do 5 free transactions (including financial and non-financial) from their bank’s ATM in a month. After the end of the free transaction limit from today, you will now have to charge an extra 2 rupees on each transaction. With the implementation of the new rules, after the end of the free limit, every transaction will now be charged a charge of Rs 23.
Reserve Bank of India issued notification on 28 March
According to the RBI notification of March 28, 2025, “ATM interchange fee will be fixed by the ATM network. After the free limit, a maximum fee of Rs 23 can be charged from the customer on each transaction. Will apply.
Free transactions can be done only 3 times in metro city
According to the new rules, if you are using another bank’s ATM, then you can do a maximum of 3 free transactions in Metro City and a maximum of 5 free transactions in non-Metro City. If you are using your bank’s ATM, you can do 5 free transactions in a month. After crossing the limit of free transaction, you will have to pay a charge of Rs 23 on each transaction. Currently, after the free transaction limit is over, the bank can charge a maximum charge of Rs 21 on each transaction from its customers. Let us tell you that this decision will cost those bank customers who use ATMs several times in a month or use any other service.
These banks implemented new rules from today
Many banks including State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank and IndusInd Bank have implemented new rules for their customers from today. Banks said that after the free limit, each transaction will have to pay Rs 23+GST. According to PNB, Rs 11 will have to be paid on non-financial transactions.
