A case of cheating a woman of Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of sending her to France has come to light in Haryana’s Karnal district. Gurpreet Kaur, a resident of Shamgarh village of Nilokheri, has complained to the police that Sandeep alias Sandy of Darad village had taken money in the name of sending her son Shivam to France, but instead of sending him to France, he sent him to Dubai. Shivam stayed in Dubai for about 11 months, but instead of going to France, he had to be called back. This process incurred an additional expense of Rs 80,000.
Gurpreet Kaur told that in April 2023, Sandeep told her that he would send her son to France, where he would get a job. Sandeep demanded Rs 9 lakh in return, out of which Rs 4 lakh was in cash and the remaining amount was transferred to other accounts.
Shivam was sent to Dubai in May 2023, but was not sent to France. When the woman asked for her money back, Sandeep threatened her and refused to return the money. Tarawadi police station has registered a case on the complaint of Gurpreet Kaur and started investigation.
