Women’s Commission becomes strict, problems of former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi increase
Mohali, November 20 (IANS). The troubles of former Punjab Chief Minister and Congress MP from Jalandhar Charanjit Singh Channi are going to increase. Notice is being issued to her again by the Women’s Commission.
Recently, a notice was sent to him by the Commission regarding his controversial statement towards women. In this notice he was summoned to the Commission’s office. But, the Congress MP has not responded to the Commission’s notice. Now the Commission is issuing notice to him for the second time.
Here, after this matter becoming serious, MP Charanjit Singh Channi has apologized. It is being told that he held a press conference and apologized for his statement. However, he has not reached the Commission’s office to reply to the notice.
Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill has said that she has got into the habit of ignoring everything. Ignoring people’s opinions, ignoring notices. But still, we will wait till this evening. If he does not come, we will issue another letter. Their mentality is that ‘I don’t feel I need to answer to anyone, why should I go to a commission or answer to others?’ But it should be remembered that the same people who made him the Chief Minister also removed him from the post.
Channi’s reply is awaited from the Women’s Commission. If he does not respond, further letters will be issued to him. The Commission will now write a letter to the Punjab DGP regarding this matter.
In response to the media’s question, Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill has said that if further need arises, she will write a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker.
