World Meteorological Organization gave shocking report, learn how the earth’s next 5 years will be
The increase in global temperature remains a matter of concern.
New Delhi: According to a new report by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the average temperature of the Earth between 2025 and 2029 is 70 percent of the expectation of more than 1.5 degrees Celsius against the industrial age (1850–1900). In addition, at least one of the next 5 years is 80 percent of the probability of heating at least one year 2024, which has been the hottest year ever. Explain that the temperature of the earth is steadily increasing, resulting in the risk of submerging countries and cities settled at low altitude than sea level due to climate change.
2024: The hottest year ever
The report stated that 2024 was the first year when the global average temperature was 1.5 degrees Celsius above the base level of 1850–1900. This was a period when burning of human activities, such as fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas), did not have a serious impact on the climate. At the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, countries targeted the global temperature rise to 1.5 ° C to avoid the most dangerous effects of climate change.
The range of 1.5 ° C in the Paris Agreement means permanent increase in temperature by long (20–30 years). This year all countries have to submit their new National Climate Schemes (NDCs) for 2031-2035 in the United Nations Climate Change Office. The collective target of these schemes is to limit the temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
What is in WMO report?
According to WMO report:
- The average global temperature of every year from 2025 to 2029 is expected to be 1.2 to 1.9 degrees Celsius more than 1850–1900.
- During this period, 86 percent of the temperature is more than 1.5 degrees Celsius in at least one year.
- The entire 5 -year average temperature is 70 percent of the possibility of more than 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Barrett to WMO’s Deputy Secretary said, ‘The last 10 years have been the hottest year of records. Unfortunately, this report does not give any indication of relief in the coming years. This means that our economy, everyday life, ecosystem and negative effects on the planet will increase. He stressed that continuous monitoring and prediction of climate is necessary, so that policy makers can get science-based information and we can do better adaptation.
Status in South Asia and India
According to WMO, South Asia has received more than normal rainfall in recent years (except 2023), and this trend is also expected to continue between 2025–2029, although some seasons may be dry. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that out of the last 5 years, India received more than normal rainfall during the monsoon. The IMD has predicted more monsoon rainfall than normal this year.
Effect in Arctic and other areas
The report states that the temperature in the next 5 winter (November to March) in the Arctic will increase three and a half times faster than the global average, ie about 2.4 ° C. Sea ice will be reduced in areas such as Barents Sea, Bering Sea and Okhotsk Sea. More than normal rainfall is expected in Sahel, Northern Europe, Alaska and Northern Siberia from May 2025–2029, while the Amazon region will be more dry than normal.
Rescue measures and suggestions
The following steps can be taken to reduce the effects of climate change:
- Reduce dependence on fossil fuels: Reduce the use of coal, oil and gas and promote solar, wind and other renewable energy sources.
- Adopt green technology: Use energy-skilled equipment and electric vehicles.
- Offonation and Revisions: Reduce carbon emissions by planting trees and protecting forests.
- Climate-friendly policies: Governments and organizations implement durable development and low carbon emission policies.
- Awareness and Education: Make people aware of the effects of climate change and measures for prevention.
An important warning is WMO’s report
WMO’s report warns that if steps are not taken in time, climate change will have serious consequences. The increase in temperature between 2025-2029 and the irregularities of the weather can have a profound impact on our life, economy and environment. In countries like India, where monsoon is important for agriculture and economy, it is necessary to monitor and adapt to these changes. All countries will have to further strengthen their climate plans, so that the Paris Agreement target can be achieved and our earth can be protected.
