Bihar’s economy can reach $ 1.1 trillion by 2046-47. This has been said in a recent report by the Industry Organization CII (Confederation of Indian Industry). According to PTI news, the report stated that it has been estimated in view of the state’s excessive possibilities and development capacity. In the near future, i.e. by 2030–31, an optimistic scenario has an estimated to reach Bihar’s economy more than doubled to $ 219 billion.
Bihar’s economy will be more than doubled by 2030-31
The CII report, titled “Bihar: A 1 Trillion Dollar Economy”, was released during the fourth CII East India Summit. The report states that CII estimates that Bihar’s economy will exceed 2030-31 and reach a level of $ 219 billion. At the same time, in a long-term approach, it can take a size of $ 1.1 trillion by 2046-47. This report offers important directions about Bihar’s economic progress, industrial possibilities and its role in eastern India.
Bihar’s current economy
According to IBEF, in FY 2025-26, Bihar’s GSDP is estimated to be Rs 10.97 trillion (US $ 128.89 billion) on current values and will grow from CAGR (Rs) between 2015-16 and 2025-26. Bihar’s per capita GSDP increased to Rs 66,828 (US $ 785.47) in FY 2023-24 and increased by CAGR of 9.13% (Rs) between 2015-16 and 2023-24. There has been a strong increase in the net state domestic product (NSDP) per capita in Bihar. On current values, the state’s per capita per capita NSDP 2015-16 and 2021-22 has increased by the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.45% (Rs).
Total goods exports from state by February 2025
In FY 2025 (till February 2025), the total goods exports from the state were Rs 15,987 crore (US $ 1,878.36 million). The major items exported from the state included petroleum products, buffalo meat, other grains and rice. In FY 2025, Bihar’s total installed power generation capacity was 7895.25 MW, of which 6655.99 MW was provided by central utilities, 70.70 MW by state utilities and 1168.56 MW private utilities.
